ABOUT US
KUNAKISA RECYCLING is a 60% women-majority owned recycling business that collects, sorts and bales recyclable waste which includes various plastic waste streams such as PET, PP, LDPE and HDPE as well as paper (K4/cardboard and HL1/White Paper). Since our inception at the end of 2021, we have been growing from strength to strength in our collection volume. We work with communities. We are supplied by several co-operatives whose total number is over 40. In addition, we also buy from informal suppliers around Johannesburg and Pretoria.
We operate buy back centres and also arrange collections from corporate companies and complexes
What we do
- Providing collection & transport services for various grades of recyclable material (PET, HDPE, PP, LDPE, K4, White paper and aluminium cans)
- A Buy-Back Centre for PET, HDPE, PP, LDPE, K4, & white paper
- Grading & sorting and baling of recyclable material (PET, HDPE, PP, LDPE, K4, & white paper)
- Sales of baled and non-baled recyclable material (PET, HDPE, PP, LDPE K4, & white paper)
Our Vision
Our vision is to become a fully integrated recycling company with capacity through our community partners to collect, sort, bale, wash and extrude into rPET and rHDPE pellets
What is PET?
PET is the acronym for a very plastic called Polyethylene Terephthalate. it’s the plastic used to make the most common container in the soft drink market today: the plastic bottle.
Successfully used in the packaging for carbonated soft drinks, bottled water, milk, juice, sports and energy drinks, jars, punnets, tubs and trays for food items, bottles for household, personal care and pharmaceutical products.
